Charles Waller

POSITIVE IMPACT

Charles Waller started drawing at age 7. He sold one of his earlier drawings to Alfred Hitchcock. He went on to study illustration at the Royal collage of art in London, then continued his training at the Rhode Island School of design where he received his BFA with honors. He became an award winning illustrator. His clients included the New York Times, Esquire and Sports Illustrated and countless others. Over the course of his lifetime he created 1000’s of illustrations before transitioning to fine art, where he embraced mixed media and found objects. He was well know for his “Sarcastic Folk Art” Style.

His untimely death has left a void the springs artistic community.

To Honor the legacy of talented artist and my dear friend , Charles Waller, all net proceeds derived from the sale of art from my personal collection will be donated to various charities including Maureen’s Haven, Ellen Hermanson Foundation, Wings Over Haiti. Long Island Parrot Rescue, East End Hospice, As well as the Charles Waller Memorial art scholarship fund.

I first saw Charles Waller’s work about 20 years ago at the Morgan Rank Gallery in East Hampton.  It was a one man show full of surprise and elation. Over the years I have always been surprised and elated by his amazing constructions. Charles was one of the first artists I thought of inviting to exhibit when I was asked to do East End collected. His works are deeply psychological, often funny and always completely original.
I’m going to really miss that fella –                             Paton Miller
